Alex Ross Recreates ‘Crisis’ Cover With Superman Actor Christopher Reeve

Alex Ross Crisis Superman Christopher Reeve

Alex Ross recreated the stunning cover for the Crisis On Infinite Earths comic featuring Christopher Reeve’s Superman.

DC’s Crisis On Infinite Earths is one of the most well-known crossovers in comic history, since it gave the publisher the chance to streamline their continuity and reshape the direction of its stories going forward. Fans even got to see live-action adaptation of the storyline in the Arrowverse, with Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen taking centre stage throughout the event as the Anti-Monitor waged war across the multiverse. The most iconic image from the comics sees Superman mourn the death of Supergirl, and now Alex Ross has redesigned the cover by George Pérez with an incredible twist.

Legendary artist Alex Ross posted a new version of the cover spotlighting Christopher Reeve’s Superman holding Supergirl after she’s killed by the Anti-Monitor. In the comics, Supergirl saved Superman from the villain, holding him off until her cousin could be pulled away from the fight. The artwork sees the Superman actor holding Supergirl while being surrounded by the heroes of the DC universe. Take a look at the incredible design below.

What do you think of the cover featuring the Superman from 1978? Sound-off in the comments!
