This summer, Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant will provide more details on the unknown origins of the Xenomorph’s, continuing the story that began with Prometheus. Returning for the follow-up film will be Michael Fassbender, who will now be playing an android named Walter. Ahead of the film’s release, 20th Century Fox has launched a website called MeetWalter.com, inviting audiences to meet the latest synthetic android from the Weyland-Yutani Corporation.
The website invites visitors to answer a series of questions to help determine which Walter unit would be the best match for users based on their personality profile.
After users have completed the questionnaire, a list of Walter units will be displayed, allowing visitors to select the android best suited for them. Upon making a selection, users will be presented with a Certificate of Imprint, verifying that that the chosen Walter unit has been created specifically to serve only you.
Of course visitors won’t be receiving a real Walter unit, which hopefully did not really need to be explained, but the viral marketing effort for the film is certainly an amusing way to kill some time.
Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
Directed by Ridley Scott, the film stars Katherine Waterston, Michael Fassbender, Danny McBride, Noomi Rapace, Demian Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Carmen Ejogo, Billy Crudup and Amy Seimetz.
Alien: Covenant will be released in theaters on May 19, 2017.
