After making her DC Extended Universe debut in Justice League, Amber Heard returned to the role of Mera for James Wan’s Aquaman alongside Willem Dafoe, who played royal advisor Nuidis Vulko. With Atlantis at risk under the rule of the evil King Orm, Willem Dafoe’s Vulko sent Amber Heard’s Mera to convince Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry to take his place as the rightful king of the underwater kingdom.

Together, Amber Heard’s Mera and Willem Dafoe’s Vulko played an important role in getting Aquaman to accept his role as King of Atlantis before saving their homeworld. Now, a behind-the-scenes photo from Aquaman has surfaced online, showing Amber Heard and Willem Dafoe together suited up as Mera and Vulko on set.

You can check out the Aquaman behind-the-scenes photo with Amber Heard and Willem Dafoe below.

Amber Heard is expected to reprise her role as Mera for the Aquaman sequel opposite Jason Momoa. There hasn’t been any official word on whether or not Willem Dafoe will return as Vulko for Aquaman 2, but it is very possible considering the character survived the first film.

David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick is working on the script for the Aquaman sequel, with James Wan expected to return to the director’s chair. For now, Amber Heard’s Mera and Willem Dafoe’s Vulko can be seen in the first Aquaman movie, which is available on all home media formats. Here’s the official synopsis for the movie:

From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an acition-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be… a king.

Directed by James Wan, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Patrick Wilson as Orm / Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Ludi Lin as Captain Murk, and Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry.

Aquaman is available on Digital HD, 4K UHD Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack, and DVD. Stay tuned for the latest news on Amber Hearad, Willem Dafoe and the future of the DC Extended Universe!
