Sony’s Amy Pascal looked back on the time when Kevin Feige offered to produce the Spider-Man films under Marvel Studios.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is now a key member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, despite his rights belonging to Sony and not Disney. While the relationship between the two studios has been rocky along the way, they are still partners for the time being.

In the book, The Story of Marvel Studios: The Making of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sony’s Amy Pascal recalled the time when Kevin Feige first brought up the idea of Marvel Studios producing their Spider-Man films:

“At first, I was super resentful. I think I started crying and threw him out of my office, or threw a sandwich at him – I’m not sure which… By the fifth [Spider-Man] movie, we weren’t giving them anything new. And I have to be honest about it, we were trying so hard to be different, we even went into places to be different that we shouldn’t have. We weren’t fresh anymore.”

Amy Pascal also reminisced about her working relationship with Kevin Feige, which dates back to Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy:

“The lucky thing is, Kevin and I come from the same place in terms of how we love Peter. I’ve been working with Kevin on Spider-Man movies since Sam Raimi’s. He would come to the meetings, get everybody coffee, and he never said a word for years. Which makes you love somebody because then when they do open their mouth, you realize that they’ve been thinking all the big thoughts and are really smart, but never had to hear themselves talk.”

Here is the synopsis for Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: No Way Home:

“For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.”

Directed by Jon Watts from a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Martin Starr, J.B. Smoove, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Benedict Wong, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Alfred Molina.

Spider-ManNo Way Home is currently set to be released on December 17, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news on Sony’s Marvel universe and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content!
