His greatest battle never began...

Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield recently opened up about the scrapped Sinister Six movie developed by Drew Goddard.

Before Spider-Man found his way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sony was notably building towards a Sinister Six film. The supervillain team was teased at the end of Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but the project never came to fruition.

Drew Goddard was hired to write and direct the Sinister Six film and Spider-Man was said to have a role in it as well. During a recent interview with Collider, Andrew Garfield talked about the ill-fated Sinister Six project and how close it got to happening:

“I don’t know how close it got, but I definitely had a few meetings, and it was really exciting. I’ve got to say, because I love Drew so much, and I love Cabin in the Woods, and the other stuff that he’s made. We just got on like a house on fire. I loved his vision, he’s so unique and odd and off-kilter and unconventional in his creative choices. So that was definitely a fun couple of months, but life.”

It appears Spider-Man: No Way Home will finally feature the Sinister Six in live-action, but Andrew Garfield says he still hopes the Drew Goddard project happens down the line:

“It would have been cool. Maybe one day he’ll get to do it, but it would’ve been cool.”

Andrew Garfield is rumored to appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Here is the film’s synopsis:

“For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.”

Directed by Jon Watts from a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jon Favreau, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, J.B. Smoove, Benedict Wong, Alfred Molina, Jamie Foxx, Tony Revolori and J.K. Simmons.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is currently set to be released on December 17, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming film, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
