Andrew Garfield Says Leaked ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Image Is Photoshopped

He has to be lying at this point, right?

The Amazing Spider-Man‘s Andrew Garfield continues to maintain that he won’t be popping up in Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Andrew Garfield is currently on the press tour for The Eyes of Tammy Faye, which means he has been absolutely hounded by questions regarding Spider-Man: No Way Home. Rumors have suggested for the better part of a year that previous Spider-Men Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire will be reprising their roles for No Way Home, the third film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spidey trilogy. The Hacksaw Ridge actor has stated numerous times that he wouldn’t be showing up in the film but fans have clearly taken his word with a pillar of salt.

Recently, a supposedly leaked (albeit hi-res) image of Andrew Garfield on the set of No Way Home suited up as Spider-Man made its way online. In a recent chat with Jimmy Fallon, Garfield shot down the Spider-Man rumors, stating that the leaked image is photoshopped. Fallon continued to push the subject but Garfield maintained his aloof position.

“I’m not sure about that… heard about [the photo], and did see it, and it’s a Photoshop…I’m trying to manage expectations!”

Jimmy Fallon continued by inquiring if the Silence actor had seen the trailer for No Way Home.

“I have [seen it], and I’m excited, and I think that Tom Holland is just the perfect Peter Parker and Spider-Man, so I’m just super stoked.”

“And I get to just be a fan again, which is my preferred position, to be able to sit in the audience and just kind of go [jokingly], ‘Yeah, you screwed up mate, you didn’t do it as well as you could’ve done it!’ I get to be that guy that’s just like, ‘Meh, I don’t really love the suit, and I don’t really love it…’ I get to be that person which is much more fun.”

Andrew Garfield has denied his position at least over a dozen times but he always seems to take the questions in stride. All signs point to Garfield and Maguire returning in No Way Home, but their capacity within the film is unknown.

Here is the synopsis for Spider-Man: No Way Home:
