Andrew Lincoln Tells ‘Dead’ Fans To Brace Themselves For Negan

Negan

This Sunday on AMC the sixth season of The Walking Dead will be concluding and will featured the introduction Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), a notorious villain from the Dead graphic novels. Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes, warned that fans should be bracing themselves for Negan’s entrance.

“You know…Just get ready, man. Just get ready. I read the script and I went, ‘This is the greatest entrance ever written.’”

Lincoln added that having Jeffrey Dean Morgan on set has caused some slight jealously amongst current Dead cast members.

“All of the guys were going, ‘Aw, man. I wish I had gotten this guy! It’s incredible. Although it’s also kind of unbearable. Norman and I were like, ‘Ugh, all the girls on set are gonna love him.’ He’s just the coolest guy and everybody loves him. Jeffrey’s such a great guy and I’ve been a huge admirer of his since he played the Comedian [in Watchmen] and everything else he’s done. We’re going to have a lot of fun. Honestly, we are so thrilled to have him. We’re lucky people.”

He added that executive producer Greg Nicotero is calling this “the best” episode that he has worked on, especially when it comes to the introduction of his nemesis. In the graphic novels, Negan has a very haunting and intense introduction to our current cast.

Lincoln isn’t the only cast member that is commenting on the upcoming extended season finale. Josh McDermott, who plays Eugene, opened up about the final episode.

“Everyone is so focused on the finale but the final two [episodes] are full-throttle for sure. When I read these next two episodes — I typically go through a script in about an hour but I read them both in about 20 minutes because I couldn’t turn the page fast enough. It just left a feeling in my stomach after reading these. We’re in new territory with the show now and we’re telling things in a different way that the show hasn’t done before. It stays with you.”

The Walking Dead airs Sunday from 9-10 p.m. on AMC; the season finale is set for April 3 from 9-10:30 p.m.
