Andy Serkis is rumored to reunite with his Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves and star opposite Robert Pattinson in The Batman.
Batman on Film is reporting that Andy Serkis is in the mix to join the cast of The Batman, the highly-anticipated DC Comics movie that’s being directed by Matt Reeves. Of course, Andy Serkis and Matt Reeves worked together on the recent Planet of the Apes films, so it is no surprise that he could be joining The Batman.
This would also be another major franchise Andy Serkis could be adding to his resume, having appeared in The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Robert Pattinson has already been cast as the new Batman with filming expected to begin early next year.
Who do you think Andy Serkis could play in The Batman? Could it be a motion capture character? Sound-off in the comments!
Plot details for The Batman are currently under wraps, though the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and feature a rogues’ gallery of villains that is rumored to include Catwoman and The Penguin. The Matt Reeves film will follow Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector and will make use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC Comics films. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new trilogy with Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader.
The Batman is one of the many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC Films, including The Flash, Green Lantern Corps, Black Adam, Shazam 2, Supergirl, Aquaman 2, The Trench, Blue Beetle, Plastic Man, and New Gods.
The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021. Stay tuned for more updates.
