‘Ant-Man And The Wasp’ Begins Filming In June; Director Discusses The Wasp

'Ant-Man and the Wasp' begins filming in June; Director Peyton Reed discusses Evangeline Lilly's role as the Wasp and its importance.

Ant-Man and the Wasp

Earlier this year, Ant-Man and the Wasp was set to begin filming in July. But according to a new update from Marvel’s Kevin Feige, the film, a sequel to Ant-Man, will begin filming a month early, in June.

“Assuming everything stays on schedule, we start filming Ant-Man and the Wasp in June.”

In an interview with Collider, director Peyton Reed also opened up about Evangeline Lilly’s role in the film, which will be much more expanded upon in this sequel. Reed also spoke about how her role as the Wasp will be just as important as Ant-Man’s to the film’s narrative.

“It’s something we’re excited about. For me as a comic nerd, I always thought of Ant-Man and Wasp as a team and that’s a lot of what the second movie is really about is how they work together, what their personal and professional relationships are like. To show her finally fully formed in this movie is really exciting. We really get to introduce this character into that universe. I mean we’ve introduced the character, but we haven’t seen her with her full power set and everything, so to me she’s not a supporting character in this movie. It’s every bit as much her movie as it is Scott Lang’s.”

Ant-Man and the Wasp will be in theaters July 6, 2018.
