Any fans that were worried Evangeline Lilly’s Wasp would be taking a back seat while Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man stole the show again in Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp need not worry. According to Rudd himself, the two characters are on equal footing throughout the movie.
Variety sat down with the actor and asked him about the sequel to 2015’s Ant-Man and what kind of role Hope Van Dyne/The Wasp would play in the film:
“I don’t know. You know, we’re a team. In the comics, that was the same story, Ant-Man and Wasp worked together. And so we just finished shooting, so we’ll see what the final movie is, but we’re very much partners in the film.”
Rudd’s words should come as a relief for Marvel fans, as many of them have wanted to see the Wasp come to life on the big screen since the birth of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There was some disappointment that we only received hints of the character in Ant-Man, which makes anticipation for Ant-Man and the Wasp that much greater.
