Sam Wilson actor Anthony Mackie revealed that he found out about the Captain America 4 plans from a grocery store clerk.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier‘s finale had barely been out in the world for 24 hours before Marvel Studios announced that Captain America 4 is in the works from executive producer Malcolm Spellman. The movie will presumably follow Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson as he continues in his role as Steve Rogers’ true successor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But the actor wasn’t told by the studio about the news.

During a conversation with Entertainment Weekly about taking on the mantle of Captain America at the end of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie revealed that a grocery store clerk called Dwayne asked him if the Captain America 4 news was real, which is how he found out about the project. It’s not surprising, since Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige are notoriously secretive about their upcoming slate of projects.

“I literally found out yesterday in a grocery store. The checkout guy named Dwayne, a cool cat, he’s like, ‘Yo, man. Is this real?!” [holds up a cellphone] “I’m like, ‘I haven’t heard anything.’ That’s what I love about working for Marvel. They call you, they’re like, ‘Come to L.A. We wanna tell you what’s going on.’ So, I’m excited to see what happens, but I haven’t heard anything.”
