Captain America star Anthony Mackie says he doesn’t wear a a muscle suit underneath his patriotic uniform in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Although most fans assumed that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier would end with Anthony Mackie suiting up as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it was still a surprise to finally see the suit from the comics perfectly translated into live-action. Although some fans had their reservations about the design, part of making the suit look good on-screen comes down to Anthony Mackie himself.

During an interview with Stephen Colbert, the Captain America star explained that he worked out every day to make sure he was in perfect shape for the role. It’s easy to see why, since that training montage in episode 5 was heavily based on Mackie’s fitness. He pointed out to Colbert that he had to get the ‘Dorito’ muscle shape for his superhero role. Take a look below.

“Well I will say: There’s no muscle suit under my suit. That’s my pride. Seven movies in, I’m like ‘I don’t want a muscle suit under my suit. So I had to work out every day, all day. I had to get the ‘Dorito’ man! That’s what it’s called: A Dorito. Shoulders to waist!”
