Production on Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan’s The Falcon and The Winter Soldier production has officially begun.

Marvel Studios is set to expand beyond feature films with a handful of limited series for Disney Plus, the first of which will center on Anthony Mackie’s Falcon and Sebastian Stan’s Winter Solider. The Anthony Mackie series, due to be released on Disney Plus late next year, officially started production on October 31.

Now, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier writer and showrunner has taken to his Instagram to share a photo he took celebrating the first day of filming. Of course, as Spellman explains in the caption, Marvel Studios is not allowing photo from the set of the Anthony Mackie series, but Spellman was able to share a new image of the Falcon and The Winter Soldier that appears to have been taken from a chair.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is currently set to be the first Marvel Studios series to debut on Disney Plus. Set after the events of Avengers: Endgame, the series is rumored to center on Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes as the former finds himself facing resistance from the United States government and its opposition to him taking on the Captain America mantle.

Directed by Kari Skogland from scripts written by showrunner Malcolm Spellman and Derek Kolstad, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson / Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes / The Winter Soldier, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, Daniel Brühl as Baron Helmut Zemo, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker / U.S. Agent.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will debut on Disney+ in late 2020.
