Chris Evans retired from the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain America at the end of Avengers: Endgame. Now that he has been sent off, Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan have been promoted to more significant roles with their upcoming Disney Plus series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. With Anthony Mackie taking over as Captain America, all eyes are on the series to see how he stands wielding the iconic shield.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is currently set to be first of these Marvel Studios series to debut on the Disney+ streaming service. Set after the events of Avengers: EndgameThe Falcon and The Winter Soldier is rumored to center on Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes as the former finds himself facing resistance from the United States government and its opposition to him taking on the Captain America mantle.

Directed by Kari Skogland from scripts written by showrunner Malcolm Spellman and Derek Kolstad, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson / Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes / The Winter Soldier, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, Daniel Brühl as Baron Helmut Zemo, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker / U.S. Agent.
