The Boys star Antony Starr has received a 12-month suspended prison sentence for allegedly assaulting a man in Spain whilst intoxicated.
It was reported last week that during a night out in Costa Blanca, Antony Starr got into a pub brawl with a 21-year-old chef. According to The Sun, the star “lashed out” after a friend he was with asked The Boys star to calm down because he was “being a nuisance.” The actor then allegedly verbally assaulted the chef’s friend and tried to push him out of the bar. The chef recounted to Spanish media that Antony Starr punched him in the jaw and near his eye. The two then began to clash, with the actor later hitting the Spaniard with glass. The chef needed four stitches.
Antony Starr spent two nights in custody before being seen by a judge. A court official released the following verdict.
“Alicante Court of Investigation Number Nine sentenced the arrested man to 12 months in prison and the payment of a fine of 5,000 euros for a crime of wounding.
“The detainee’s state of drunkenness was taken into account as an extenuating factor.
“The sentence was the result of an agreement between the state prosecution service and the man who was subsequently convicted.
“His prison sentence is being suspended on the condition that he doesn’t commit another crime in two years and pays the compensation in the next 72 hours.”
A suspended prison sentence means that the defendant is to be sent to jail but the judge delays the sentence so the defendant can serve time on probation. Currently, reps for both The Boys and Antony Starr haven’t commented on the situation, which appears to be wrapping up legally in Spain.
