The legal battle between Amber Heard and her ex-husband Johnny Depp continues as the Aquaman actress is now asking for details regarding his “hush money” settlements.
Johnny Depp and his former lawyers have settled the $50 million malpractice suit set a month before he is set to go to trial. This comes amidst a $50 million defamation suit between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. Attorney Bryan Freedman explained the following to Deadline:
“The former law firm of Bloom Hergott, with the help of its insurance carrier, has favorably settled the litigation with Johnny Depp for a fraction of his original demand. While the firm was confident it would prevail at trial, we are nonetheless pleased with this resolution as it expedites the firm’s winding down process and allows it to get off the endless Johnny Depp litigation train.”
Despite settling the $50 million malpractice suit mentioned above, Johnny Depp is headed for another trial for the Los Angeles Superior Court due to his defamation suit against his ex-wife Amber Heard in February 2020.
New filings show that Amber Heard is trying to get her ex-husband’s former business managers (The Management Group) to deliver documents that the Aquaman star’s legal team claims that such information would give credence to Amber Heard’s claims against Johnny Depp.
Here’s an excerpt courtesy of Amber Heard’s attorneys (read full memorandum here):
“TMG was Mr. Depp’s longstanding business management firm from 1999 until they parted ways in 2016 amid a bitter dispute.”
This memorandum courtesy of Amber Heard’s attorneys also ask for details regarding “hush money” settlements made on behalf of TMG and Johnny Depp.
Both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are currently involved in Warner Bros. tent-pole franchises with Fantastic Beasts and Aquaman.
