Although Aquaman has yet to open in the States, Warner Bros. and DC’s latest has already reeled in an impressive catch in overseas markets. With much ado regarding the iconic hero’s first solo film, questions about his young protege, Aqualad, are already surfacing.
Though James Wan never saw the sidekick fitting into the already busy film, he did not turn down the possibility of him making an appearance down the line. Speaking to ComicBook.com, the filmmaker said:
“Well, you know, I used the Batman analogy: Let me get Batman right first before we introduce Robin.”
Wan continued:
“I mean, listen, again, the character is very popular in the canon of Aquaman, in the comic book canon, right? And so who knows.”
So while it sounds like fans won’t be seeing Aqualad on the big screen this time, it is still nice to know that the possibility of an appearance somewhere down the line is still alive.
