Aquaman continues to make waves: the Jason Momoa-starring superhero flick is set to cross the $1B mark in ticket sales as of today.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that James Wan’s film finished Friday with a worldwide total of $988.6M. Domestically, it grossed $4.6M for a weekend where it was said to reach close to $15.5M. Second to Aquaman is the Bryan Cranston/Kevin Hart-starrer The Upside, which made between $18M and $20M domestically. Clearly Arthur Curry’s not just the King of Atlantis at this point.

Directed by James Wan, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Patrick Wilson as Orm / Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Ludi Lin as Captain Murk, and Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry.

Aquaman is now playing. The DCEU will continue next with Shazam! which will be released in theaters on April 5, 2019, and will be followed by Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) on February 7, 2020, and Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5, 2020. A standalone Joker film set outside of the DC Films universe starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime is also set to hit theaters October 4, 2019.
