Minor Spoiler Warning: The following video finds James Wan delving deep into the Italy action sequence in Aquaman.

With Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films’ new movie Aquaman finally in theaters in North America and other territories around the world, fans have had the opportunity to see how visionary filmmaker James Wan brought his own sensibilities to a superhero that has been long-considered a joke in popular culture. The film is chock full of swashbuckling action, and perhaps the highlight is a chase sequence that takes place in Sicily, Italy.

The sequence in question involves Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) and Mera (Amber Heard) as they are on the run being chased by Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and the members of the Men-of-War army of Atlantis led by Captain Murk (Ludi Lin). The fluidity of the cinematography sweeps through Sicily as our two lead heroes are in a rush to survive as they continue their quest to find the Trident of Atlan.

This sequence in Sicily was a stroke of brilliance from James Wan and company, and the director recently broke down the scene in a video for Vanity Fair. The video finds him giving viewers some further context into how the epic chase was brought to life, and just goes to show how collaborative of a process filmmaking is.
