We’ve known for a while now that James Wan’s Aquaman would begin shooting sometime in 2017 at the Village Roadshow Studios in Australia, but another filming location for the highly anticipated movie has now been revealed.
Back in August, Wan shared a post on his Instagram page, giving us a look at a possible filming location for the movie at the Amalfi Coast of the Salerno Gulf in Southern Italy, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Aquaman will be partially shot in that country.
According to Giornale di Sicilia (via SMTV Reports), Wan will shoot several scenes for the movie at the Castle of Venus, which is located in the town of Erice in the province of Trapani on the island of Sicily, Italy. The report also reveals that the director will start shooting there in September 2017.
This is the second update that we’ve had on Aquaman this week. On Monday, Wan revealed that Watchmen star Patrick Wilson has joined the DC film as Orm, a.k.a Ocean Master. In the comics, Orm is the villainous half-brother of Aquaman, played by Jason Momoa. The two actors will be joined by Amber Heard and Willem Dafoe, who will be playing Mera and Vulko, respectively.
Aquaman opens in theaters on October 5, 2018.
