A lot of the costumes from James Wan’s Aquaman, like a lot of the costumes in past DC films like Batman v Superman and Watchmen, feel like they’ve been ripped right from comic panels. And one fan chose to highlight the detail and accuracy in regards to Patrick Wilson’s Ocean Master in the recent DC movie.
Whether it’s Arthur Curry, Mera, or Black Manta, many of the outfits worn by the characters in Aquaman appear very faithful to their comic-book counterparts. We’re no longer in an age where adaptations are afraid to directly adapt costumes from the source material, no matter how “cartoony” they may appear to some. One of the best examples of that is Ocean Master. Though we don’t see the full on outfit until later on in the Aquaman film, one fan did a side-by-side comparison on Reddit to note the level of accuracy that James Wan captured.
Here, have a look for yourself in the comic-to-screen comparison below to see how accurate Ocean Master was brought to life in the Aquaman film:
APPRECIATION: I found this on twitter. The accuracy from DC_Cinematic
Whether it’s the bright armor or purple on his suit, Ocean Master in Aquaman is the spitting image of his comic book counterpart. And if you’ve seen the film, then you know it works just as well in motion as it does in a still frame. Ultimately, though, what did you think of Ocean Master’s look in the Aquaman movie? Did you find it faithful to the source material? Or are there things about it that you would improve? Let us know your thoughts on this and more in the comments below.
Directed by James Wan, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Nicole Kidman.
