Aquaman has officially passed Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice at the global box office to become the DCEU’s highest-grossing film.
The film starring Jason Momoa has managed a total of $887.6 million worldwide, topping Batman v Superman‘s global take of $873.6 million. Wonder Woman ranks in third with $821.8 million, followed by Suicide Squad with $746.8 million, Man of Steel with $668 million, and Justice League in last with $657.9 million.
In addition to becoming the highest-grossing DCEU film yet, Aquaman has also helped Warner Bros. manage its highest year to date, hitting $5.6 billion at the worldwide box office.
Based on characters created by Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger, the script has been written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and Will Beall based on a story by Geoff Johns, Wan and Beall. Peter Safran and Rob Cowan have produced the film with Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, Jon Berg, Johns, and Walter Hamada serving as executive producers.
Directed by James Wan, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Patrick Wilson as Orm / Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Ludi Lin as Captain Murk, and Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry.
