Aquaman has just surpassed Suicide Squad at the global box office and is incredibly close to grossing $750 million.
The DC Extended Universe has crossed some major box office milestones with its five previous installments. The latest addition to that franchise, Aquaman, has been king of the box office this holiday season and it shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. According to a report from Forbes, Aquaman accumulated $51 million at the domestic box office this weekend. This means that the domestic box office gross for the film sits at $188.785 million.
Worldwide, this brings the total gross of the film to $748 million. That total brings the film just slightly over the $746.8 million global gross of Suicide Squad, which opened in theaters in August 2016. Suicide Squad eventually grossed over $325 million at the domestic box office. Aquaman’s domestic gross isn’t too far off from Suicide Squad‘s so it’s possible that Aquaman could be surpassing another DCEU film at the box office before the season’s end.
