Arrow showrunner Beth Schwarz commented on the Batman easter egg in the season 8 premiere of the Stephen Amell series.

The eighth season premiere of Stephen Amell’s Arrow opened with a sequence that featured a quick glimpse at Batman’s cowl on the Island of  Lian Yu. With the episode taking place on Earth-2, fans began speculating that Batman was the one who trained Robert Queen in this universe.

Unfortunately, Arrow showrunner Beth Schwartz did not offer insight into why the Batman masked was featured in the season 8 premiere. Instead, the Arrow showrunner noted that Batwoman’s introduction to the Arrowverse has allowed the team behind the series to get away with including more Batman easter eggs in the Stephen Amell series:

“Thank god for Batwoman. Now that they’re in our universe, we’re able to get away with a lot more things Batman-related.”

What do you think the story is behind Batman’s mask being on the island? Let us know your thoughts below!
