‘Arrow’ Character Gets Massive Upgrade In Latest Episode

Arrow Season 7 Ricardo Diaz

To bring a villain from a previous season of a television show back may seem irritating to some, but in the case of Arrow, I think it’s worked more often than it hasn’t. The likes of Malcolm Merlyn or Slade Wilson appeared well past the season where they were the primary antagonist, and they were used to good effect. Though we’re only a few episodes into the recent seventh season so far, the same can be said right now for Kirk Acevedo’s Ricardo Diaz, who remains a thorn in everyone’s side now that he’s back for another season of Arrow.

During last night’s episode of Arrow, in between Oliver going toe-to-toe with Bronze Tiger while in prison and Diggle and Lyla doing some investigating, we saw Felicity, René, and Dinah join forces with special agent Samandra Watson also go toe-to-toe not just with Diaz, but with the Longbow Hunters, who had been introduced in the previous episode. Though Team Arrow ultimately failed in taking down Diaz or the Longbow Hunters- though René and Felicity neglected to tell Watson that they managed to capture Silencer- Diaz walked away the true victor.

How? During the episode, we see Diaz and the Hunters in search of a particular vial, which he manages to obtain. By episode’s end, he showcases its effects to the Longbow Hunters. After injecting himself, he punches a nearby wall and manages to put a dent in it without so much as a scratch to himself. He’s just a step away from ripping a log in half with his bare hands like Steve Rogers did in Avengers: Age of Ultron. But regardless, if Diaz was a thorn before, he’s now a full-on cactus with this increase in strength.

More than that, Diaz is, right now, outfitted with superhuman strength, so he’s now leveled the playing field with the Longbow Hunters. If Team Arrow had a difficult time with The Dragon before, their battle against him just became a lot rougher. Who knows if he’ll end up trying to pay Felicity another visit with this strength boost? Let us know your thoughts on this and what you thought of last night’s Arrow in the comments below.

Arrow stars Stephen Amell, David Ramsey, Emily Bett Rickards, Echo Kellum, Rick Gonzalez, Juliana Harkavy, Katie Cassidy, Colton Haynes, Ben Lewis, and Kirk Acevedo.

The series airs on Monday nights at 8 P.M. on the CW.
