‘Arrow’: Latest Episode Makes Reference To DC Comics’ The Outsiders

The latest episode of The CW network's 'Arrow' featured a reference to the DC Comics superhero team known as 'The Outsiders'.

Arrow has made several references to DC Comics lore through the show’s six season run and the latest episode gave a nod to the superhero named The Outsiders.

With Team Arrow now divided into two separate groups, the new faction of vigilantes – which includes Mister Terrific, Black Canary, and Wild Dog – began developing names for their own superhero crew. Though the suggestion was ultimately rejected by his cohorts, one of the names proposed by Curtis was “The Outsiders.”

Comic book fans will recognize the term “The Outsiders” as a reference to the DC Comics superhero team of the same name. Founded by Batman after his relationship with the Justice League deteriorated, The Outsiders consisted of metahuman heroes who were deemed to be out of the norm or who were denied membership in the Justice League. Various incarnations of the team have been led by different characters including Nightwing and Roy Harper, who also formed a version of The Outsiders following the dissolution of their own group, the Teen Titans.

Arrow continues next week with the episode titled “All for Nothing” and you can read the official synopsis below:

OLIVER AND DINAH FACE OFF – Oliver (Stephen Amell) continues his battle with Cayden James (guest star Michael Emerson). Dinah (Juliana Harkavy) and Oliver have a major disagreement that endangers the life of one of their own. Mairzee Almas directed the episode written by Beth Schwartz & Oscar Balderrama (#612).

Arrow airs on Thursday at 9:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
