‘Arrow’ EP Says Diggle’s Freedom Will Cost Felicity

Stephen Amell Arrow

Arrow fans have been teased about a dark arc for the usually optimistic Felicity Smoak ever since the tragic death of her boyfriend. However, while those events will undoubtedly propel Felicity down a darker path, it appears that part of what will being her descent is related to John Diggle’s current situation. In an interview with Screener TV, executive producer Wendy Mericle discussed how Felicity’s role in freeing Diggle will come with a cost.

Mericle explained how Felicity’s efforts to free Diggle, who was last seen being arrested and facing charges for which he was framed, will give Diggle a reason to be concerned for his friend.

“He’s going to be grappling with a different set of challenges in Felicity. Part of what kicks her off down this darker path is she’s going to find evidence to exonerate him — and he’s going to have to deal with the fallout of the fact that Felicity is now going down a questionable path in part because of him.”

Mericle had previously told Screener TV that Felicity’s grief will also contribute to her taking a dark path for a long time.

“The grieving [her dead boyfriend] is not going to stop. We’re going to be feeling the repercussions of what happened with Malone at least through episode 520.”
