’Arrow’ Season 5 Adds DC Comics’ Artemis

As Arrow has been adding several new male vigilantes for its 5th season, it looks like we are getting a female vigilante joining the series and it is someone that Young Justice fans will recognize quite a lot.

Variety revealed today that Madison McLaughlin, who played Evelyn Sharp in episode 19 of Season 4, “Canary Cry”, will be returning to the show and take on the mantle of Artemis. Evelyn’s first appearance on the show featured her impersonating Black Canary who had been killed off in the previous episode titled “Eleven-Fifty Nine” as we saw the horrible death of Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy).

You will see her in multiple episodes starting with the 2nd episode of Season 5. Here’s how Variety describes Evelyn’s arc in Arrow Season 5.

“McLaughlin will be reprising her role as Evelyn for multiple episodes beginning in episode 502, and will be taking on a new DC Comics persona: Having tried to assume the mantle of Black Canary last season, Evelyn now aims to forge her own identity as the masked archer known as Artemis.”

Artemis Crook became a well-known DC Comics name when she made her animated debut in Cartoon Network’s Young Justice series that went on for two seasons. She was the daughter of Sportmaster in the cartoon, just like in the comic books, but in the comics, she was actually villain who was known as Tigress. We’ll most likely learn more about Evelyn’s arc by San Diego Comic-Con.

Arrow Season 5 begins on Wednesday, October 5, 8/7c on The CW.
