The CW is developing a female-centric Arrow spin-off with Katherine McNamara, Katie Cassidy and Juliana Harkavy.
The yet-to-be titled series is getting a backdoor pilot during the eighth and final season of Stephen Amell’s Arrow, which premieres next month. It’s being written by Beth Schwartz, Marc Guggenheim, Jill Blankenship and Oscar Balderrama.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the Arrow spin-off would focus on Katherine McNamara’s Mia Smoak and the two Canaries — Katie Cassidy’s Laurel Lance and Juliana Harkavy’s Dinah Drake. The spin-off would have to take place years after the present-day events of Arrow as McNamara’s Mia Smoak is the focus of the show’s flash-forwards, taking place in the year 2040.
Arrow season eight will lead into the events of the Crisis on Infinite Earths. The Arrowverse crossover will span two quarters and consist of Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, and Batwoman. It will launch with three episodes in December before concluding with two additional episodes in January.
