Katherine McNamara confirms the full title for The CW’s new female-led Arrow spin-off.

Earlier this year, it was reported that The CW was developing a female-led spin-off series to Stephen Amell’s Arrow, which will conclude when its eighth season wraps this fall. The Arrow spin-off will star Katherine McNamara, Katie Cassidy, and Juliana Harkavy and now it has been revealed that the series will be officially titled Green Arrow and the Canaries.

The Arrow spin-off will set to launch with a backdoor pilot during the final season of the Stephen Amell series and production on the episode has officially begun. Actress Katherine McNamara, who portrays Oliver and Felicity Smoak’s daughter Mia, revealed the title for the Arrow spin-off in a post on her official Twitter account celebrating the first day of production.

The CW’s Green Arrow and the Canaries will be written by Beth Schwartz, Marc Guggenheim, Jill Blankenship, and Oscar Balderrama. Plot details are currently under wraps, though the spin-off would have to take place years after the present-day events of Arrow as McNamara’s Mia Smoak is the focus of the show’s flash-forwards, taking place in the year 2040.

Here is the official synopsis for the final season of Stephen Amell’s Arrow:

After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the North China Sea. He returned home to Star City, bent on righting the wrongs done by his family and fighting injustice. As the Green Arrow, Oliver successfully saved his city with the help of his team including former soldier John Diggle (David Ramsey), computer-science expert Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), former protégé Roy Harper (Colton Haynes), street-savvy Rene Ramirez (Rick Gonzalez), metahuman Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy), brilliant inventor Curtis Holt (Echo Kellum) and Earth-2 Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy). In the wake of discovering what his future holds, Oliver will find himself pit against his most challenging battle yet, one that will leave the multiverse hanging in the balance. In Arrow’s final season, Oliver Queen is forced to confront the reality of what it means to be a hero.

Arrow stars Stephen Amell, David Ramsey, Echo Kellum, Rick Gonzalez, Juliana Harkavy, Kirk Acevedo, Sea Shimooka, and Katie Cassidy Rodgers.
