‘Assassin’s Creed’ Sequel Reportedly In Development

It sounds like New Regency are pretty confident in Justin Kurzel’s upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie, as they have already began development on a follow-up to the film adaptation of the popular video game franchise, according to The Tracking Board.

The first movie wrapped filming back in January and will star Michael Fassbender as Callum Lynch, the descendant of Aguilar de Nerha, who was a member of the Brotherhood of Assassins in 15th Century Spain. The site reports that Fassbender will be back for the sequel, but it’s unclear whether or not the rest of the cast will return.

We’ve yet to see as much as a trailer for the movie, but a few teaser images that were released last year indicated that it could debut with the release of Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice later this month. Video game movies such as Assassin’s Creed have been pretty bad so far to say the least, so here’s hoping that this one breaks the curse.

Directed by Justin Kurzel, Assassin’s Creed will also star Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson, Michael K. Williams and Ariane Labed. The movie opens in theaters on December 21, 2016.
