Drift, which was voiced by Ken Watanabe, returns for The Last Knight and is now a Mercedes-AMG GT-R. He previously was a black-and-blue Bugatti Veyron.
Much of the news out of the Transformers production has been additions to the cast. It looks like The Musketeers star Santiago Cabrera is the latest addition to the cast of the movie. Paramount Pictures broke the news with a post on the official Transformers Instagram page.
Cabrera joins the likes of Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel and the recently added Tyrese Gibson, as well as franchise newcomers Isabela Moner, Laura Haddock and Sir Anthony Hopkins. A number of Transformers have also been confirmed for the sequel, including Bumblebee, Barricade, Megatron, Sqweeks and Drift.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but rumor has it that the story will revolve around Optimus Prime trying to locate a mysterious artifact to bring Cybertron back to life. That artifact apparently has ties with Merlin (as in, Merlin the Magician of King Arthur lore), so it’s safe to say that he’ll be looking for Excalibur. After all, the logo for this movie does include a sword, so what else could it be?
Transformers: The Last Knight stars Mark Wahlberg, Isabela Moner, Josh Duhamel, Jerrod Carmichael, Mitch Pellegi, Anthony Hopkins & Laura Haddock and is currently scheduled to transform and roll out into theaters on June 23, 2017.
