Ava DuVernay Teases Including Barda & The Female Furies In ‘New Gods’

Director Ava DuVernay hinted at plans to include Big Barda and the Female Furies in DC’s New Gods film.

Warner Bros. slate of developing DC projects includes a feature film centered on the New Gods and director Ava DuVernay is currently hard at work penning the script with comic book writer Tom King. Of course, details on which New Gods characters might appear in the film are currently unknown, although Ava DuVernay recently confirmed she plans to include Big Barda and the Female Furies.

Responding to a fan’s Twitter question on the possibility of including the Female Furies in New Gods, Ava DuVernay asked how any “self-respecting” Barda fan could consider leaving them out. Ava DuVernay then noted that she is looking forward to using them in the New Gods film.

Check out the post below to see Ava DuVernay’s comment on Barda and the Female Furies.

In the comics, The Female Furies are an elite team of female warriors from the planet Apokolips who are trained to serve Darkseid. Guided under the leadership of Granny Goodness, the Female Furies originally had Big Barda as a field leader until she turned good after falling in love with Darkseid’s adopted son, Mister Miracle.
