It is only a matter of time before we finally see the first trailer for Avengers 4. After the legendary cliffhanger ending that was Avengers: Infinity War, fans can barely contain their excitement for what’s about to come next. Some have come up with their own predictions and fan theories, and this latest one centered on Natasha Romanoff AKA Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) is quite interesting.
This Black Widow theory involves her relationships to both Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans). The Russo Brothers have previously mentioned that Avengers 4 will continue plot threads not only with Infinity War but with Captain America: Civil War and perhaps Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Black Widow ended up joining Team Iron Man in Civil War, but following the epic airport battle against both factions, she let Steve escape to help protect Bucky (Sebastian Stan). The theory explains that Tony may be hesitant to trust her while Steve is more likely to trust her actions. This would lead to Black Widow making the sacrifice play for one of the Infinity Stones (perhaps the Soul Stone) and in turn, spares the lives of Tony and Steve.
The theory also makes an interesting observation in which Bruce Banner/Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) would be so enraged that both halves of the strongest Avenger would have to reconcile and bring the Avengers together like never before.

Obviously, this is just a theory and it’s only a matter of a few months until we find out how it all plays out, but this would be a nice arc for Black Widow. She had her start all the way back to Iron Man 2 and has since become a fan-favorite character in all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Avengers 4 is a film about sacrifices, so it would be interesting to see if this is how they’ll send off one of their most beloved heroines.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the film is expected to star Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Paul Rudd, Jeremy Renner, Brie Larson, Josh Brolin and Chris Pratt.
Avengers 4 is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 3, 2019.
