James Gunn: ‘Avengers 4’ Is Not Called ‘Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet’

Zoe Saldana recently implied that the fourth Avengers movie would have the subtitle of "Infinity Gauntlet". James Gunn clarified that this is not the case.

Avengers - Thanos's Infinity Gauntlet
James Gunn, who seems to be the go-to guy when it comes to answering questions about Marvel Studios, was recently asked about the official title for Avengers 4 that’s apparently a big spoiler. Gunn clarified that, in spite of rumors that it might be Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet, the movie’s title is still a secret.

Yesterday, Zoë Saldana briefly mentioned that she’d be doing filming for Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet later this year. In a recent interview with Yahoo! Movies to promote Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2, Gunn revealed that this isn’t the title to Avengers 4 after all:

“It’s not the title. My guess is that Zoë just misspoke. I’ll talk to Zoë today, but I would imagine that is just Zoë misspeaking and saying Infinity Gauntlet instead of Infinity War.”

So odds are, we’ll just have to wait until shortly after the release of Avengers: Infinity War to find out what the sequel will be called. You know, the old-fashioned way.

Avengers: Infinity War will be released on May 4, 2018, and has a cast that includes Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark (Iron Man), Chris Evans as Steve Rogers (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth as Thor Odinson, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner (Hulk), Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton (Hawkeye), Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch), Paul Bettany as the Vision, Chris Pratt as Peter Quill (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautisa as Drax the Destroyer, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Vin Diesel as Groot, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Michael Rooker as Yondu Udonta, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Stephen Strange, Tom Holland as Peter Parker (Spider-Man), Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier), Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa (Black Panther), Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Tom Hiddleston as Loki Laufeyson, Benicio Del Toro as Taneleer Tivan (Collector), and Josh Brolin as Thanos. An untitled sequel will be released on May 3, 2019, and features many of the same cast returning alongside new additions like Brie Larson as Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel) and Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne (The Wasp).
