A new Avengers 4 theory suggest that the injuries Thanos sustained after using the gauntlet in Infinity War foreshadows the death of a major Marvel hero.
After Thanos collected all six Infinity Stones and used them to erase half of the population in the universe from existence, the Mad Titan sustained injuries from the gauntlet he used to harness the power of the stones. Because there was no prior indication that the gauntlet causes damage to the individual wearing it and no such consequence has been seen in the comics, Reddit user Crossfiyah suggests that the injuries Thanos received were designed to foreshadow the death of Captain America:
The simplest explanation I can come up with is to explain why Cap dies when he uses it in AW4.
My prediction is that sometime during the climax of the battle with Thanos they will get the Gauntlet off of him, but there will be almost nobody left to use it. Tony will attempt to do so, but Thanos will end up breaking his left arm, preventing him from doing it.
That will leave Cap as the only person left in a position to do so, and when he uses the Gauntlet to reverse the Snap it will kill him instead.
The reason they showed the Gauntlet hurting Thanos is so it makes more sense when it straight-up disintegrates Cap.
