Years before Chris Pratt became Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Endgame he auditioned to play to Captain America in the MCU.
It’s hard to picture Chris Pratt in any other Marvel role other than Star-Lord, but he actually auditioned to play Captain America years before he appeared in the cosmic side of the MCU. With the arrival of Disney Plus, fans have been treated to a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of producing the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One featurette looks at how Marvel pick the stars to become the next Avengers.
During the featurette, casting director Sarah Finn explained that Chris Pratt initially caught the attention of Marvel Studios when he was auditioning for Captain America, long before Star-Lord was even on the scene. Obviously Chris Pratt didn’t wind up getting the Captain America role, but it’s clearly worked out for the best since audiences instantly fell for his roguish Star-Lord and Chris Evans’ Captain America.
