‘Avengers: Endgame’ Directors Weigh In On The Ant-Man & Thanos’ Butt Theory

During an interview with ComicBook.com, Avengers: Endgame co-directors Joe and Anthony Russo commented on the popular theory about how Ant-Man could defeat Thanos.

Since Avengers: Infinity War concluded with Thanos successfully carrying out his mission to eradicate half of the population in the universe, fans have proposed theories on how Earth’s Mightiest Heroes could reverse the decimation and potentially defeat the Mad Titan. While Endgame co-directors Joe and Anthony Russo would not confirm whether or not any fans have correctly guessed the outcome of the film, the filmmakers did point out one flaw in the theory suggesting Ant-Man could defeat Thanos by shrinking and entering his ass, only to become Giant-Man and tear the Mad Titan apart from within:

“Listen, here’s the thing. Thanos is incredibly strong. His skin is almost impervious. The question would be what would happen to Ant-Man if he did that. Would it work? Would it not work? If it didn’t work, it would be really bad.”

The Russo Brothers added the Ant-Man theory might not have been one of the scenarios Doctor Strange saw when he foresaw multiple outcomes of the conflict with Thanos:

“I don’t know if, even Dr. Strange might not have gotten to that version.”

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo,  Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin.

Avengers: Endgame will be released in theaters on April 26, 2019.
