Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo have responded to the big Infinity Stone twist in Tom Hiddleston’s Loki series.

Since Captain America: The First Avengers a big deal has been made out of the Infinity Stones, with each potentially having the power to destroy entire worlds. Eventually, the various heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe battled Thanos over possession of the stones in Avengers: Infinity War. Despite last-minute acts of heroism from Thor and Scarlett Witch, Thanos ultimately succeeded in obtaining all of the Infinity Stones and wiped out half the universe’s population.

Following the events of Avengers: Infinity War, the heroes of the MCU traveled back in time in order to retrieve all of the Infinity Stones and bring all of those Thanos snapped out of existence back in Avengers: Endgame. Ultimitly they succeeded in this but their actions also resulted in a version of Loki breaking away from the preordained timeline, leading to the events of the Disney Plus series of the same name. In the first episode of the show, it is revealed that within the home of the Time Variance Authority, the Infinity Stones had no power and were used as paperweights. Furthermore, it was also revealed in the series finale that all of the events of what has been dubbed The Infinity Saga were all preordained by a version of Kang The Conquerer.

In a recent post on TikTok of all places, the Avengers directors jokingly shared their thoughts on Loki’s change to the Infinity Stones with a clown filter on their faces:

Here is the synopsis for Loki:

In Marvel Studios’ “Loki,” the mercurial villain Loki (Tom Hiddleston) resumes his role as the God of Mischief in a new series that takes place after the events of “Avengers: Endgame.”

Directed by Kate Herron, with Michael Waldron serving as head writer, the new series stars Tom Hiddleston, Sophia Di Martino, Owen Wilson, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

Loki season one is now streaming on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for all of the latest news on the future of the series and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content!
