During an interview with Deco Drive, Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo debunked the popular theory regarding the runtime of Spider-Man: Far From Home.
When the official 129-minute runtime of Spider-Man: Far From Home was revealed, fans quickly realized the combined length of every feature film in Marvel Studios’ Infinity Saga was 3,000 minutes. This prompted some to theorize this combined runtime total was planned to give more emotional weight the popular “I love you 3,000” line from Avengers: Endgame. However, Avengers: Endgame co-director Joe Russo debunked this Spider-Man runtime theory and confirmed it is merely a coincidence:
“We worked really hard to make sure. We’ve been planning that since Winter Soldier. No, I mean, that is absolutely coincidental. We’re not that smart.”
Anthony Russo added it was difficult enough to produce movies on the scale of Avengers: Endgame without trying to reach a specific runtime:
“It’s hard enough to make these movies. Trying to a hit a minute count like that seems off the mark.”
