New Avengers: Endgame concept art shows off alternate designs for Gwyneth Paltrow’s Rescue.
Although Pepper Potts got her chance to shine as an action heroine in Iron Man’s suits and powered by Extremis in Iron Man 3, her debut as Rescue had to wait until the very end of Avengers: Endgame six years later. Since Gwyneth Paltrow has stated that she doesn’t plan to make any more major Marvel Cinematic Universe appearances anytime soon, this may be it for now. Nonetheless, there were alternate designs that were considered for the Rescue suit.
Concept artist Phil Saunders experimented with the Rescue design in the first of two images that were shared in a concept art book, which closely resembles the version that made it to the big screen in spite of a few small differences. However, the artist also had the idea of giving her a costume that matched her husband’s “Silver Centurion” color scheme as seen back in Iron Man 2. Both looks can be seen below:
In any case, seeing Rescue at all was a nice surprise that helped cap off an unforgettable conclusion to a story 22 movies in the making. While it’d be great to see Rescue again, it seems like this was a good send-off for the character if this is all that we’ll get.
