Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo have some pretty cool ideas regarding the X-Men as they would have snapped every member except Wolverine.
While speaking with IGN, Avengers: Endgame co-director Joe Russo explained that Wolverine would have been the only member of the X-Men to have survived Thanos’ snap. He stated that he would want to see a fiercely motivated version of Wolverine go up against Josh Brolin’s Thanos:
“I’d love to see a fiercely motivated Wolverine going up against Thanos.”
Sadly seeing Wolverine fight Thanos in Avengers: Endgame to avenge the X-Men was not meant to be. While the Disney acquisition of 20th Century Fox had reportedly been in the works as early as 2017, it was not finalized until March of 2019. As a result, Fox continued to produce its own version of the X-Men that was wholly separate from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But from the sound of things, Avengers: Endgame co-director Joe Russo had a great idea as to what they would do with Wolverine and the X-Men.
