Thanos really should have seen his timely defeat in Avengers: Endgame coming… And quite literally, according to one fan.
Spoilers, obviously, but the ending of Avengers: Endgame shows that when Thanos puts on the Nano Gauntlet, he looks directly at it before preemptively declaring his victory, snapping his fingers, and then realizing that he doesn’t have the Infinity Stones. It’s then revealed that Iron Man has bamboozled Thanos by snatching the Infinity Stones to make the sacrifice play by snapping away Thanos and his armies at the cost of his own life. However, if Thanos had taken a closer look, he may have had time to reach Iron Man before that happened.
That’s what one fan argues, anyway, due to the fact that the Nano Gauntlet places the Time Stone on the thumb, an area where Thanos looks directly at when he puts the glove back on. The fan included a clip from Avengers: Endgame to highlight Thanos’ fatal mistake and you can check it out below.

It can be argued that the thumb area is slightly obscured by the way that Thanos is looking at it, but the point still stands. It can also be argued that Thanos not feeling the surge of energy flowing through him should also have tipped him off that something was up, but alas, hubris is the fall of many a villain, and Avengers: Endgame proves to be no exception.
