‘Avengers’ Directors On Why [Spoiler] Was Injured Early In The Film

The directors of Avengers: Infinity War explain why one of the film's heroes was injured early on in the battle with Thanos.

Thanos was no doubt a force to be reckoned with in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War. And while it took the bulk of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s roster to take him on, one character, in particular, was removed from the field of play fairly early in the film.

While speaking at an event at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C., Joe and Anthony Russo explained that Paul Bettany’s Vision was taken out as soon as he was in order to make him more susceptible to becoming one of Thanos’ victims. Despite having the Mind Stone, thus making him a primary target for Thanos and the Black Order, the Vision did not last long in the battle.

During the film, Corvus Glaive stabbed Vision with his staff, thus inhibiting his flight and ability to become untouchable. Considering how much a force Vision has proven to be in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War, he was no match when facing Thanos himself.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War stars Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Bettany, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Benedict Wong, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland and Anthony Mackie.
