The latest concept art from Avengers: Infinity War features an impressive look at an early Thanos design.
Thanos has gone through many different looks in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sometimes he’s more dark purple, sometimes his face looks slightly different, but many fans seemed to agree that the character’s look in Avengers: Infinity War is the best one yet. Not only is that because of the incredible way the character was written, but the visual effects used to bring Thanos to life are some of the most impressive to date.
Many visual effects begin as designs on paper at first though. Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding recently released early concept art of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War via Twitter. In the post, Meinerding briefly detailed the development process behind creating the design. Check out the incredible art in the post below.
Here is where I started figuring out #Thanos' face. These are concept paintings I did in #Photoshop before translating the design into 3d and refining him. The early challenge was seeing how much of Josh Brolin's likeness could drive the design. #InfinityWar pic.twitter.com/aC67viZtuJ

Thanos shares an incredible resemblance to the star who plays him, Josh Brolin, thanks to the incredible technology used to bring him to life, beginning with the painting above. Brolin is a very well known star with a distinct voice and look, so it’s even more impressive how Thanos was able to break out of Avengers: Infinity War and became a Marvel Cinematic Universe icon in his own right.
