In a featurette released in promotion of the digital and blu-ray versions of 'Avengers: Infinity War' Marvel Studios revealed the powers of the Soul Stone.

Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe had many questions after the events of Avengers: Infinity War, but perhaps by indirectly answering one, they have the opened the door to many answers. In a recent featurette released to hype up the digital and Blu-ray versions of Infinity War, Marvel speaks about the Soul Stone in a candid manner unlike ever before.

The video cycles through the power of all six stones. The Space Stone can travel across any dimension, and  the Time Stone can alter the future and past. The Reality Stone allows the user to bend reality to their will, while the Soul Stone can control life and death. The Power Stone can destroy anything in the wearer’s path, and finally the Mind Stone can create and alter consciousness.

If the Soul Stone is truly able to control life in the same way that it controls death then it cements that the heroes killed when Thanos snapped his fingers are able to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though this does not confirm the existence of the Soul World that exists in the comics, it at least hints at why fans saw a young Gamora in the Soul Stone towards the end of the film.
