Omaha.com reports that Avengers star Robery Downey Jr. sent a special video message to a 7-year-old fan named Jackson Tijerina, who is battling cancer.

Jackson Tijerina is a fan of Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and even donned a costume of the key Avenger for Halloween last year. In January 2016, Jackson was diagnosed with a brain tumor and is now fighting cancer with an experimental treatment oral chemotherapy drug. The brave child even displays the medical port in the center of his chest, which he views as being similar to the chest piece Tony Stark wore to keep himself alive and power his Iron Man suit.

Meeting “the real Iron Man — Tony Stark” was the last item on Jackson’s bucket list and his mother placed the request on Facebook in hopes of reaching someone who could make that wish come true. When Council Bluffs resident Sue Wheeler saw the message, she reached out to a friend in the movie industry who was able to get to Robert Downey Jr., leading to the Avengers star delivering words of encouragement to Jackson in a Facebook video:

Jackson, is that you? Hi! It’s Robert Downey Jr., but you can call me Tony. Thinking about you, stay strong, know that my prayers are with you, and also, you know, life is challenging. And you are just the man for the job. So lots of love.

Jackson’s mother, Amy, said that when Jackson watched the video, “He was jumping up and down, and he was smiling from ear to ear. He was so excited and I was crying.” Jackson and his sister then sent a thank you message to Robert Downey Jr.

A culmination of 22 interconnected films the fourth installment of the Avengers saga will draw audiences to witness the turning point of this epic journey. Our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it.
