Warner Bros. has officially released a deleted scene from The Batman featuring Barry Keoghan’s Joker.
Earlier today, Warner Bros. dropped a slew of never-before-seen images from The Batman, offering fans their best look yet at Barry Keoghan as The Joker. Now, WB has dropped a five-minute long deleted scene from the movie, showing a meeting between the titular hero and the Clown Prince of Crime. You can check it out below.
Barry Keoghan made his first appearance as The Joker towards the end of The Batman. The film showed him interacting with Paul Dano’s Riddler at Arkham Asylum, but this five-minute scene was cut from the final version of the project. Director Matt Reeves recently discussed the scene during an interview with IGN.
“[Batman] goes to see another killer that he’s clearly had an experience with in these first two years. And this killer in this story is not yet the character that we come to know, right? So everybody’s in their infancy. So in the comics, these characters often declare their alter egos in response to the fact that there’s a Batman out there. And so here, we have a Joker who’s not yet the Joker,” Reeves told IGN.
Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as the Penguin and Barry Keoghan as The Joker.
