Barry Keoghan has reacted to Matt Reeves’ The Batman finally releasing.
After a series of delays, The Batman has finally hit cinemas! Matt Reeves’ brooding and grounded take on the franchise has received near-universal acclaim, with many touting it as one of the most original and engaging comic book films to emerge from DC. With the film on track to make over $100 million domestically this weekend, a sequel is most likely in the works as Warner Bros.’ gamble to have multiple Batmen on screen has clearly worked out.
One star who has been a constant in the conversation surrounding The Batman is Barry Keoghan. Without getting into spoilers, rumors have suggested that Keoghan could play a variety of characters, including a Gotham police officer or even the Joker. While we won’t confirm who he’s playing – it’s best to find out for yourself, the Eternals star has opened up about the release of the DC film.
Taking to Twitter, Barry Keoghan simply tweeted out the film’s title. And though it isn’t a reaction many would expect, it’s quite telling considering the star hasn’t been a part of The Batman‘s press run. Will Keoghan speak up about his character after most people have seen the film? It’s more than likely but for now, we’ll have to do with a simple tweet.
Fair warning: the replies to Barry Keoghan’s tweets are spoiler-filled, so maybe don’t click on the tweet if you wish to go into The Batman unsullied.
Here is the synopsis for The Batman:
Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman (Robert Pattinson), striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies — Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) — amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens.
When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler (Paul Dano). As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.
Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
