Barry Keoghan, who has recently appeared in both DC’s The Batman and Marvel’s Eternals, was arrested in Dublin for a public order incident this past weekend.
Barry Keoghan hails from Dublin and was back in the city this weekend, when he was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning. Police were reportedly called by a resident claiming there was a man outside their window. A source claims police received reports of “a man on a balcony in an intoxicated state.” The source says that “he wasn’t threatening in any way but was arrested and brought to the garda station, where he was dealt with before being released.”
In a statement to Metro.co.uk, Irish police force An Garda Síochána confirmed that an arrest had taken place, saying: “Gardaí arrested a man in his 20s for a public order incident that occurred in Clongriffin, at approximately 6:45am, Sunday 10th April 2022. He was later released without charge and issued with an FCN (fixed charge notice).” Nothing more is expected to come of the incident.
Keoghan has shot to global fame in recent years. Last year, he appeared in A24’s lauded The Green Knight, before going on to make his MCU debut as the mind-controlling Druig in Eternals. Last month, he appeared in a cameo role as the Joker in DC’s The Batman, gaining more praise for the role from fans following the release of a deleted scene in which the incarcerated villain was confronted by Robert Pattinson’s Batman.
Here is the synopsis for The Batman:
Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman (Robert Pattinson), striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies — Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) — amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens.
When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler (Paul Dano). As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.
Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero and Bruce Wayne, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as the Penguin, and Barry Keoghan as The Joker.
